Not much info really. I live in the North so not in their area or radar it would appear. The indoor snowdomes here have a big freestyle attraction as speed skiing down a 150m slope is hardly an option. Trouble is it is very expensive to be an England team member whatever your discipline hence why so few and so little publicity... |

Normally your skis do stay together ok but ski straps are a good idea. They don't come with the skis and don't cost lots really. Also they will help you to identify your own hire skis.
The Niederau pass is hands free so it just gets put in a safe left hand side pocket - preferably an inside one that you will not use to store other things in. Some Jackets have special pockets for them on the sleeve. |

It was awesome!! I have been up Mont Blanc and the altitude got to me at the top of the cable car - I can't imagine climbing even further up. Bad luck to Noel. Have met Graham a couple of times and he is a nice guy who earns my respect when I see the sort of stuff he does for these programmes. Ralph Little nearly getting killed was pretty scary in retrospect - his drop buddy looked scared. He looks to be a pretty good skier too - he can come and join our forum....

Decent insurance, to cover general skiing and off-piste - any suggestions?

BMC (British Mountaineering Club) definitely cover off piste - my son was rescued by helicopter last year after an off piste accident and no probs with the claim. If you are in France your best option is to take out the Carte Neige insurance at 3 euros a day with your lift pass. This covers you for all off piste rescue which many of the cheap UK policies do not. Also speeds up treatment on piste and you don't have to pay up front. I will never forget the screams of a teenager in Chamonix, being brought down in a lift with a broken leg by his mother because she had not taken out the Carte Neige...

Didn't go up to the Auhof but I am sure Jan will be able to tell you where up there the kids can go sledging. Alternatively many kids sledge on the nursery slopes whilst their parents enjoy an apres ski drink in one of the bars at the bottom. You can see the slopes from the bars too!! This is a good option as there are not too many obstacles that they can crash into. When I skied up to 5 pm ish there were more sledgers than skiers at the bottom! PSC |
