Weather looks good for the next week but cold so hopefully not too much snow melting. OP will let you know what there is to do when I get back next week.

Bad news is that most of Austria is booked up for New Year - good news we booked for Niederau Hotel Vicky which is closed this season but open that week, just 2 weeks ago. Try emailing Gabrielle info@feriendorf-wildschoenau.at

Ski Welt is just a 15 minute drive away and the skiing at Niederau is recommended by many on this forum...

Very good painting Dave - I always think snow must be quite hard to paint and you have captured it really well. I am getting very excited for Niederau as I finish work tomorrow!!!
Westendorf to Kitzbuhel?? On skis??

Just been reviewing the Piste Maps for the Kitzbuhel Alpen Area. Am I right in thinking that if you want to ski the above there is no piste down from Gempenkogel and you have to get the cable car down :?: Also how do you get from the bottom of the lift to the other side i.e. Pengelstein 1 :?:

I know this level of planning is sad but it is the only thing that will help me to survive until the end of the week
New Generation or ESF??

Personally if you can afford the extra I would book New Gen - they are superb. I may be a little biased as my son trained with them last year -but the groups are so much smaller, in peak weeks they will have trainees helping out and all the instructors speak excellent English. ESF can be good but if you end up in a group of French they are not quite as thorough with you.
There is a new Pay as You Go Pass from La Compagnie Des Alpes called Holiski. Covers Paradaski, SChe, Les Menuires, Meribel and others.

Meribel vs Val T
Started by User in France, 14 Replies
In April it is very slushy down to Meribel in the afternoon. You need to ski above 2000m to avoid it which is why VT might be the better option. Saying that you can always take the sensible option and travel back down to Meribel in the cable car and avoid those ankle and knee injuries that prevail at that time. The Apres is supposed to be lively in VT but the resort lacks the prettiness of Meribel but is less spread out.
