Chalet de Neiges accessed at the top of Roc de Trois Marches 1 has to be THE best value in the 3V and also serves delicous traditional food, Pizzas and salads in generous portions. It gets very busy at peak lunchtime (1pm) so we head over to Courchevel or Orelle in the morning and get back there about 2ish.

Just looked at the website - the £20 pp delivery drop off menu seems a good idea I find it difficult cooking decent meals with limited access to ingredients - wish they were in my resort....

Have just read it and lines = Snow Chains so we are told to put them on before going up the mountain - Police usually are around to stop those that don't have them. However it does look like the road up to St Martin, Les Menuires & Val Thorens may need to be closed if the snow that is forecast does appear to prevent possible avalanches. They are asking Tour Ops and Letting Agencies to send a list of all the mobile numbers of their clients - in resort and travelling to on Saturday so that they can text them updates on travel. Have just requested this service as travelling independently and as a precaution booked a cheap Hotel in Albertville on Saturday night! Don't fancy a night in the car even if I am wearing warm clothes, have water and food! The good news is that Sunday is forecasted to be sunny!

The taxi costs about 120 Euro's from Meribel to St Martin.
St Martin is quiet but Le Dahlia is busy for Apres Ski and Pourqois Pas can be lively at times but that's about it really. There are disco's in Les Menuires and Val Thorens you can bus it there and taxi back. When are you going? Where are you staying? St Martin will probably be at its' liveliest that week!! Saying that the 3V skiing is superb and from there you can reach pretty much every resort on skis in an hour. Heres a picture from today - yesterday there was no snow so all good.... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150390405636150&l=4e70284719 |

We stayed in St Jean d'Arves some year ago the skiing was extensive and more varied across in the St Sorlin Sector which you can get to via a fast 6 seater chair. The resorts (and slopes)are quiet but if you are doing a season with a group of other like minded folk I am pretty sure you will find some fun! You could drive to Orelle in an hour and enter the 3V area for a day trip from there.

Due to lack of the white stuff - had been keeping an eye on the webcams and it all looks very green still - maybe my pre christmas holiday to 3V was not such a good idea this year - we shall see.....
