Sarah, if the board bag is not too big, should fit into a Passat, or similar estate car, at an angle, so not impinging on the seat space. If the price for a 7 seater is not too much more, worth going for this.
A bigger hit can be the charge for winter tyres. I only found one hirer that gave modest charges, in advance, on-line.
Most of them were vague, and of course, when you get to the airport, you are a dripping roast!
Oberau/Niederau

I agree Pete that skiing-wise, Oberau is limited. It is an old village, and is the gemeindantburo for the Wildschönau. Also agree that the Austria has a great location for lifts and the village centre.

However, although the 24th is a changeover day, the week prior is still on the edge of low season, so there should be rooms available on the days prior to Christmas. This presumes that you are DIY.
A word of warning. On the 24th December, all of the main autobahn approaches to the SkiWelt, Kitzbühel , Wildschönau, and the through route to Innsbruck will be at a standstill/traffic crawl.
That is an extra reason for going a day or two earlier.
The Simmelwirt is also close, but no swimming pool.
All good, if you like the sound of church bells!
Just had a rubbish day skiing......

I do drills just about every day, on a T-bar just above one the mountain jochalms. Pick something different to focus on each day.
There is always something to improve, especially in my case!
Heavy Snow In The Alps

Glenshee.
Afraid I chucked out 6 pairs of skis and 3 pairs of bindings ~ needed to clear the loft, for insulation. The bindings could have graced the V&A, but could have been good for your purposes.

Don't put your boots in the loft unless it is 100% mouse proof!

I can meet you with these comments. There is a lack of investment in most Scottish areas. I would like to see snow making on the runs ~ but it isn't going to happen, mainly because of the green lobby, but also be cause of the lack of serious investment. It would mean creating a dam, burying pipes underground, and having the pump bases on view, all the year round.
Until that happens, all the Scottish ski areas will be dominated by weekend only activity.

Niederau

Love it!!! :D :D :D
Andy, Tony has a date with Mary Hofen. I, on the other hand, will be in Niederau, land of the dragons. I had considered coming across to the Hof for a day, (that should be enough?), but think I will be too busy.....

Broom, that is bad luck. It is common sense time for you. 12 weeks takes you to the end of April. Even then, you couldn't really book, until you have given it some physio, and an appraisal to see how it feels. I am thinking about an indoor ski session.
It does not look hopeful. But it could well be much worse if you go back too early, and re-create the injury.

Best wishes.
