It's OK Tony, he kept the bobble and threw the hat away. New thread required. Uses for second hand bobbles....... |

Sorry, Sah, I have been a bit ott.
Flights ~ you say that is a problem, what is the problem? What is your nearest airport? Skiing ~ for a recovering injury, for some rehab skiing, there are five gentle slopes at the foot of the mountain, in Niederau. Then there are two slightly steeper slopes at the top of the mountain ~ come down by Gondela. Lifts are 50m from most of the main hotels. Hotels~ In Oberau, the Kellerwirt is a 1000 years old. Some of the greatest names in skiing, royalty, blah di blah have stayed there. ~ In Niederau, Austria is in the village centre, and has a pool. The Harfenwirt has a pool, it is half a mile walk up the road, with direct access to a nursery slope, and a T-bar to the village. The Hotel Sonnschein has a pool, but is an extra 150 yd walk, and not connected to the ski bus. The first two have bus stops beside them. There is a rather pricey shop in Oberau, Sandbichlers, good stuff, though. You can catch the Post Bus into Worgl, 20 minutes, that has loads of shops, some good places, quality and pricewise. You can also do a day trip to Innsbruck. If you can stretch into New Year, you will be rewarded by the most magical firework display, 360 degrees of mountain horizon fireworks. |

That is a wee bit harsh on Glenshee. It is true about the investment, since we have not had the snow stability in some years. Queuewise, it is better to go mid-week and avoid the weekend queues. Right about the winds, especially in low temps ~ that is true for all the Scottish Ski resorts.
Not true about always closing the car parks~ I have parked there at all times, good days and bad. You must have had some bad experiences, CBM! I take it you are not the same Big Mags that was in the papers several years ago for running a drugs centre in the West of Scotland? - ) |

Far from it, Tony, Of my seven weeks skiing this season, only three and a half weeks will be spent in N. definitely need to add another N. week next year. Without impacting on my other places, of course. Might need to buy a different lift pass next year! |

The Matterhorn. The view of the Matterhorn is a most powerful thing. When you travel up the rack & pinion railway, that is your first view. Then from your hotel balcony, and from the village. Finally from skiing underneath it. To my mind, it is the most powerful view in the Alps. My half finished painting, it drives me crazy, I need to go back..... ![]() |

Me neither. However, my middle week in March will coincide with Fasching. Cue a 70% increase in accomodation costs! |
