There you go Graeme, there is two slightly different versions. I think Tony's guy ought to be on his skis as well though!
This is a reasonable guide. However, far from being only one way, various ski coaches advise using shorter poles, the idea being that in order to plant the pole just before the tip of the ski, this action will pull the weight forward. In previous times, longer ski poles were de rigour! |

Probably 110cm or 120cm. Height is not the only influence. It is really your elbow height from the floor. The shop assistant will show you how to hold the sticks upside down, and check for height.

In the 70s I did spend 4 or 5 Easters, and 2 Whitsuns in Cairngorm. I know that is not Glenshee, but it is an indicator. Sadly the Iglu snow history does not cover Scotland.
If there is sufficient snow cover, it will be seriously mobbed. |

Good question Ian. When I lived in Niederau, every run had names. Went to live in Australia for a couple of years. and when I came back, the runs were marked with numbers. Tokk me two seasons to stop getting lost! Of course, runs with names are not usually board marked, as are run numbers. And then, names don't always translate too well. My favourite European run is called "The Fairy Dell". You go first, Ian. :D :D |

Go on then, I'll let you take all the credit! |

My preference is Cairngorm, but then I like the West Wall. I would say there are more runs on Cairngorm. However, the access is very poor. Unless you are up the hill very early, (8.30am), you are likely to have to park in the lower car park, and face a long queue for the bus. Experienced skiers can ski down the West Wall late afternoon to the lower car park.
The "Olympic Village" is in Aviemore, and it was getting dated 20 years ago! Nothing Olympic there. Glenshee too, has an good range of skiing, and the car parking is much better. I skied at both last season. For Cairngorm, apart from the hotels, there are a range of holiday cottages. For Glenshee, I stay in Braemar. It has a few hotels, and is an "auld heilan" village. |

If you are referring to Krautinger, I could not agree more. However, there are some very tasty schnaps. An example is hazelnuss, hazelnut, lovely taste. |

Thing is, I like the rough farmers schnaps, though not many do. Many people can go for Marilon, the peach schnaps, nice.
