I had a similar experience at the Chill FactorE a couple of years ago. I couldnt understand what any decent skier would get out of it, apart form dry bases.
I can see how it would be ideal for beginners to practice though.
Bring the mountains on.

There are a lot of drills that a snow dome would be perfect for. Drills that are boring in the mountains (slow speed stuff involving edge timing, weight movements, various side slip thingys) could be done on that type of slope, and would improve most peoples skiing.
because I'm so inclined .....

I'm with Trencher, time spent on skills in snowdomes, enhances the on-mountain experience. Who wants to spend their resort time doing drills!
I've spent a whole day on a skills course at HH and I was pretty tired by the end. The day did pass quickly, with no let up in the pace.
Still, perhaps I'm not a decent skier, because I'm still taking coaching )

I must admit that that is what i did.
Basically practicing side slips, 360's, skiing backwards.....
The trouble is that you run out of snow far to quickliy and then face another trip up that slow lift.
The skills course at Hemel sounds interesting Bandit..pls tell me more. I am not sure they do those at Hemel.
I find day courses quite interesting.

Snapzzz, I attended a 1 day skills event in 2009 at Hemel run by Chris Fecher (Gravity Ski School) and Will Roberts (BASS Megeve). I wrote it up here:

This summer Performance Courses are being run at Hemel by Derek Tate (BASS Chamonix).
Details here:

Additionally Warren Smith usually runs a series of courses at Snowdomes around the UK. Here is the page link for the Hemel day, date TBC:

I do drills just about every day, on a T-bar just above one the mountain jochalms. Pick something different to focus on each day.
There is always something to improve, especially in my case!
