Its worth checking out for the skiing and apres is good but not totally in your face.

You might also want to consider Ischgl and Solden for the atmosphere, but not so much tree skiing and chocolate box villages.

Perhaps Switzerland might be a better selection: Saas Fe, Grindelwald, Wengen?

Thanks for the back up on M. I did 2 seasons there and not once thought of it like Benidorm. Saying that I've never been to Benidorm so what do I know?

I only like films, books, and serials with happy endings. I like it when the baddy gets caught, and the injured get rescued etc. hence I like NCIS, Casualty, Numbers etc.

My flat mate when I was at Uni tricked me into going to see 'Sophie's Choice' and I was traumatized for life. I can still see Meryl Streep on the station platform trying to decide which one of her kids to give up to the Nazis before she goes off to the concentration camp. And that bit at the end when she commits suicide - although I haven't seen the film for 27 years.

I've never seen that film, it sounds good but now I don't need to watch it.

Hello and welcome to J2ski :D

There's plenty of choice particularly with the resort charm in Austria, the majority are very pretty. There's tons of choice, what level of skiing are you and Mrs at?

I personally like Mayrhofen (Tony H will back me on this one), it's a nice village, enough to do on the skiing front, lots of resort charm, good apres but shouty drunk people can be avoided if necessary.

You'll get good (and bad) advice on here, hang in there and more will be along shortly....

A ski preparation weekend

I like the sound of that. The beer tour bit rather than the cycling.

I'm off to a beer festival this weekend in the New Forest as it happens, along with a bit of camping.

Now it rains.
