Mayrhofen would suit you, but we found it was such a chore to queue to get up and down the mountain in the gondollas. Good Apres
Soll, some say its low but we went there last year end of Jan and it was great and about the right level for your group. Put it this way we are going back again this year. Yes we are a maturer group but there was plenty of good apres for young and mature. Good mix of locals,Germans but with a healthy mix of Brits and Irish and unless I imagined it loads of Geordies!! Do a search on the resort on here and you will find views and opinions from last year which may answer your quastions. |

Last year was the first time we have not been to Schladming in 5 years so that must tell you something. The Ski school at Rohrmoos was spoken well of but cannot comment on it personally. Mountains are fantastic, spoilt for choice on the mountain where to eat. The big ski cabin at the bottom of the Planai has taken IMO abit of atmosphere from the town but lots liked it. It is not a place for youth looking for clubbing.
We were a mixed group of good intermediate and some advanced skiers 40-50 yrs. Its less than an hour from Salzburg airport and for those who want to get there on their own steam, its has it own railway station which is about just over an hour from Salzburg also. Happy to answer any more questions. There will not be loads of Brits there which we always liked. |

I thought Soll was as QT or as lively as you wanted it. The proximity to the Whiskey Mule to the Postwirt had been mentioned by some as being noisey when it turned everyone out. As we were usually leaving about then and we had 1st floor rooms that overlooked the street, we were likely to be the only ones in the hotel it would affect.
When we went in January there was alsorts of mixed groups from young boarders to groups even maturer than us and we averaged late 40s. Good fun was had by all and no yobbery at all just folk having a good time. |

We went there with Thomson's but it was Crystal who recieved us and repped us. I have to say we never had a problem with our passes at all but then again we had no reason to check them, so I do not know if we were had over or not. Touch wood we never had any injuries so we did not have to test the reps to much that being said apart from the first day I do not remember seeing her. On the whole we found the hotel very good. The hotel restaurant has a good reputation and couples etc come there to eat, so being a largish group we were occassionally loud, but not rude and the staff tried on a number of times to address this. If we were to go back again we have already made enquiries to eat in a side room separating us from those who are likely to complain.
Was suprised when you said you found it QT nightlife!!! I know my best years are behind me but we were not often in bed before 2 having had a great craic and we were on our way to the gondolla by 9 without fail. Maybe Im just easily pleased. It has to be said that we did end up in the Whiskey Mule on quite a few occassions!! |
