Researching for 2015 trip. Have skied Austria last 10 years. Ski with a mature group, range from very good intermediate to advanced skiers. Looking for a great ski area, with decent après and good 3/4 star half board hotels in town near lifts. Does Sella Ronda tick these boxes?

PrivateBryan, very harsh but true. Leave it as late as you can to see if Mrs H can make it, but have a sub replacement on standby who might get a cheapie. That way she can still possibly make it, you still get to go what ever the case. :-)

Just missed you by a week, returning to Saalbach the week after. Stayed at the Berger last year.

Tram runs from outside terminal to station 15 mins and as previously stated their trains are very reliable..

Karen72 your points are well made. We are booked into Soll itself. I can vouch for the Apres being well suited for her. Like I mentioned earlier having her sister will be a huge carrot, but we will make sure she has a good time at her pace and pleasure.

I will look forward to reading your web page with interest and pass it on to the rest of our group. Like I mentioned before, I have been to Soll 3 times the last being 2012 with an experienced Group, so a lot of the mountains we took for granted.

Thepistepanther thanks for taking the time to reply. We are are booked to come to Soll. My wife has skied a couple of weeks before but it is fair to lacks confidence. She is going to have a lesson or two before we go and will be having lessons at Soll hopefully being put in the appropriate class to go with her lack of confidence. Hopefully this will bring her on. I know she will be happy to travel up and down on gondolas and lifts to get access to nice runs. As long as she can progress in some way and enjoys again the mountain experience she will be fine. Her sister who has skied a few times more and on her own admission not Franz Klammer will be with us so I have a feeling a little bit of sibling rivalry may help slightly to spur her on. :D

Wood side and Wanderer thanks for taking the time to write your recommendation. Totally agree with you about the last run down into Soll down the valley. When I have been to Soll before with an experienced group of skiers, as we normally put the miles in a number of them down their skis and get the gondola down so not to ruin a good day as it can be quite challenging.
It's official now we arrive in Soll on the 4th of January. Does anyone know if Dave's sports is still up and running as we were last there2 seasons ago. Left them a message but got no reply, but then again it is in between the different seasons. |
