Hi Snapzzz, welcome to J2ski and how exciting to be going on your first ever trip! Can guarantee you will get hooked and become as obsessed as us about this brilliant sport. As you might have seen from other threads, we are all currently excited because it's snowing in Europe :D

Currently snowing pretty hard in Tignes!

I would love to do the camp next October, however my job, once again, gets in the way with restricted holiday. Note to self: find a job with lots of holiday or win the lottery so I can ski forever. |

No, Christmas is in fact less than 8 weeks away! We are travelling on my birthday (22nd Jan) by train and arrive in Val on the morning of 23rd Jan.
We have skiied Tignes and Val before, very much looking forward to it :D |

I'm a fan of both. Having learnt to ski at 18, I first tried boarding in the early 90s and then finally ditched the skis in about 1995. Since meeting my hubby I have gone back to skiing, few reasons really, mainly because I was rocketing down the slopes and having to wait a life time for him to get the the bottom of the chair lift, I was getting fed up of scooting on flat bits and having to faff about with doing my bindings up at the top of a lift. Small insignifiant things really, I'm happy skiing these days but do still enjoy a day thrashing a hire board on the slopes.
Boarding seems to be the 'cool' thing to do if you are given a choice (although slighly more difficult and painful to learn), personally I think things have changed a lot since boarding first reared it's head, skis have developed massively to compete with the boarding band wagon and as long as you are enjoying yourself having a slide and making the most of the mountains, I really don't think it matters what you do. |

I can see a pattern forming Tino. Are you boarding this weekend?

17 - good start.
I was reading about Zermatt last night in the WTSS book (from about 2003 I might add), apparently a 'must-ski' before you die. Only thing putting me off at the moment, and please correct me if this has changed, is the hike/bus to the lifts. I would rather walk 15 mins to a lift than wait an hour for a bus, apparently its about 20 mins max from anywhere in the village to the main lifts? |
