I love playing the ratings game so here goes!
Mayrhofen 7/10. Great nightlife, slopes pretty good. Chamonix 8/10. Great skiing but lots of bus travel (little interlinking). Lovely centre. 3 Valleys 10/10. It has everything you could wish for. Expensive yes, but avoidable. We stay in Mottaret, high up and a great central location. Les Arcs & La Plagne 9/10. Superb skiing and variety for everyone. Well worth a visit. Tignes & Val D'Isere. 6/10. Skiing good but too many boarders sitting in the middle of slopes, and a bit soulless really. Lech Austria for 2014 so will update. Most of this was catered chalets with skiworld, but some self catering in the 3V which made it very affordable. Hope this helps anyone? Cheers Steve |

I too have been to both, and agree that they are fantastic places to hit the slopes. Both areas offer so much variety, you will never cover the whole area in 1 trip.
If I had to choose, I would go for La Tania, but if I was heading that way I would look at Mottaret, which while not as pretty as La Tania (this does not make it ugly), it is a superb central location for the 3v, where as LT is on one side and it can be a fair trek over to the other. Good luck in choosing! Steve |

Andy, I though La Plagne was great fun. There isnt a massive challenge over there, some steepish stuff but nothing to need an parachute for. What I really enjoyed was lots of motorway cruising, usually at good high speeds.
I went to Tignes this year and I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Give me the 3v, or Les Arcs/La Plagne anyday. |

I've done La Plagne, I thought it was fantastic, a great twin venue with Les Arcs.

I wear mitts by 'seal skinz'. £30 and very very warm indeed. I would suggest these to anyone. Hope this helps.

They are great runs. The top of the Combe Vallon usually has moguels, but once past them it's great fun. It's that wide it isn't hard to find a place to take a breather and enjoy the scenery. Well worth a visit, and there are much harder reds in the 3V.
