yes that always makes me laugh when i talk to mates who dont ski but play footie and when you sugest skiing the first response is always about broken legs or Knee problems.

I have skied for 27 years with only a dislocated thumb and one minor knee twist that put me out for about a day.
One season of Sunday League football had me in A&E twice.

Ski Collection at the airport

I tend to Drive or go by coach avoid the stess and hassel of Airports if possible however for those that do fly why take your own skis???????
If your going BA or something then fine but as im sure most people go sleasy Jet or The Irish one that i cant mention without my blood pressure going off the scale then what you pay for the pleaasure of taking your own can be spent on a nice new hire pair for the week. Gives you the oppertunity to try different pairs during the week as well.

And you dont have to lug them around the airport.
Travel Insurance

I skied for many years without travel insurance A) because i was young stupid and thought i was invinsible and B) i was too disorganised to sort it.

Then one year i got a blood clot in Andorra and needed airlifting to Barcelona. Luckily my mate had sorted insurance with the trip.

Imagine the cost if he had not.

Since then i never scrimp on my insurance.
Try Dog tag pretty neet idea as you carry your insurance round your neck always have it with you then.
Chamonix - non skier advice?

Great Thermal Spa at La Fayet which is a short bus or train ride from Chamonix. In fact the train station is a 2 min walk from the spa.

The rack and pinion railway also goes from le fayet up the back of Mont Blanc and is a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours they could get off it at St Gervais for some more shopping etc and then catch it back.

Drink Prices in Soldeu, Andorra

I havent been for a while but i imagine it will be a couple of quid cheaper than France. Its duty free so it shoul be although the bars ont seem to pass that on. They have also ha a couple of really ba seasons so if they have anysense the bar owners will be wanting to encourage future trade (they are having a great season this year though).

It also epens on where you drink. The three best bars are Fat Alberts, Avalanche and Aspen these will be around the middle of the price range,The nightclub Pussy cats which may have now shut down will be your usual nightclub prices and then there are a number of bars that will be offering special offers especially on apres ski. The bar next to the Avalanche is a boarders hang out and from memory is pretty reasonable. The one to avoide is the newish one in the Gondola station apart from looking like a tacky happy eater with really bad service its expensive.

If your looking for nightcluds there is a really good one in el tarter that caters for the spanish much cheaper and great atmosphere.

Im very envious you will have a great time.

If I win ill take everyone on the thread for three weeks skiing in a 5 star hotel with hot and cold running chambermaids (and butlers for the ladies or if thats you bag)flown over in a private jet all expenses paid with new skis, and gear helicopter skiing and top guides.

Now shame on anyone elso who wins and isnt so generous.

Disclamer this only applies to a win over the 5 mill mark and not my usual £8.20
