Hey have you been watching me ski jimbo???? lol
Its ok worrying about which board to get but id make sure you have some good wrist protectors if your starting out. Ive had too many mates ruin a weeks boarding by breaking a wrist on the first few days. |

Hi I have a friend that teaches in Avoriaz / Morzine so ill give him a bell and see if he knows of any ski schools with experience.
Might also be worth Giving BASI a call as they will have a list of instructors that are qualified and working in the area so you could ring and arrange some lessons in advance. Im guessing a native English speaker would be an advantage. |

For your info there are lockers in the Lift Station at the bottom, also some just outside by the entrance to the car park and if you dont intend skiing down a limited number at the top of the lift down and to the side.
Best bars are prob Fat Alberts then Avalanche followed by Aspen. Depends which one has the live music or the Football as to weather its your kind of atmosphere. looks like i will be their Crimbo week so will just miss you. Iwas very tempted to jump in the car tomorrow and dive out for a week looking at the web cams and some pictures my friends have pasted on their facebook. Slopes were deserted yesterday. |

Depends what you want the Sport Village is even nicer than the sport but more expensive or the Himalaia is ok.
Cheaper options are the Brussels or even the Roc which is just down the hill a few hundred meters very basic but nice. Most of the Hotels in the Centre are fine. If your not so worried about the night life then El Tarter may be more to your taste the Llop gris is very nice i lived there for three months http://www.llopgris.com/ lifts go from right outside the hotel and its the same ski school. The resort is even pretier and its more Spanish than the very English Soldeu if you prefer that. Feel free to drop me an email if you want to chat I have lived in both resorts and worked for the ski school. |

If it were me and i have dreamed about this a lot i would say Le Fayet. Its just down from St Gervais already mentioned and within a short driving distance of some of the best skiing in Europe. Chamonix, Argentier, La Tour, Combloux,Les Contamines,Megeve,Les Hoches,Brevent,Flegere, and of course the Vallee Blanche.
It has a main train station,is an hour from Geneva Airport and Snowcoach http://www.snowcoach.co.uk/page.php?id=36&pid=4&mpg=greatplacestostay have a Hotel there and run an overnight coach service thoughout the season sometimes twice a week as an option for getting home. Accomodation should also be much cheaper as its a living working town and not just a ski resort. Other than that somewhere like Morzine which again is about an hour from Geneva. If you want cheap accomodation though your going to need a car. |

Of course you could always book your ferry and wait untill the week before to book accomadation rumour is there will be lots of cheap hols due to the credit crunch.

Hi Depends what you mean by cheap.
http://www.snowcoach.co.uk/ Snowcoach offer reasonable deals they have a couple of their own hotels and all the food and drink is included. They also do 2 for 1 offers on lift passes or free child places etc. I have used them quite a lot over the years and often book in to their hotels for a day or two when im on my way to resorts or on the way back. If you want to go totally indipendent then three of us had a Holiday in Avoriaz for 460 each all in. Ferry,Road Tolls,Accomadation,Food and lift pass. I do get free fuel though so i guess that would add quite a bit. I won the apartment on ebay but you can look on http://www.pv-holidays.com/ and they dont work out much more expensive. You can take most of your own food and the supermarkets usually do a cheap dish of the day if you dont want to cook. Down side is Not a lot of nightlife, expensive resyurants and drink just like all france and apartments like rabbit hutches. I go for the skiing so its not a problem but if your looking for charm and culture prob not for you. PV Holidays do do apartments all over so worth a look. |

I done that on a Mark Warner Holiday booked it the night before and got it for about 30% of what everyone else had paid. They were really pissed off. Poor sods. |
