Been following this with Interest..
I always drive normally for all the reasons stated previously however I must say the worst part of the journey is getting to Dover it really does bring home just how unplesant driving in the UK is and I can see why most people baulk at the thought of a long drive.
I actually find that once in France it becomes part of the Holiday.

I have been lucky enough to have done 6 weeks in 4 trips this year 1 driving and 3 by plane and I can honestly say that everytime the Flying was stressfull and tiring from start to finish.
I wouldnt be sorry if I never had to go on a plane every again.

I would love to try the train one day but unfortunatly as most of my trips are last min it always comes out to expensive.
Last min ferry still no more tha £50 return bargain. :)
Hi I think the Technique you were refering to harks back to the old days when skis were dependent on your height and the theory was to start you on much shorter skis almost blades and then gradually increase the size as you progressed although this is a distant memory so i could be wrong.

I would definatly advise using New Generation if they are available over the ESF form Experience the ESF can be a little bit of a lottery on who you get.

I also wouldnt be to worried about your progression as peole have mentioned before there are many factors that can affect how you lean and you may find a different instructor different group,Snow as opposed to plastic and better hire equipment will all play a part.

I have always believed that skiing is 20% technique and 80% confidence :) so if you are able to approach it with an open mind and optimisim this will help you progress much faster.
Good luck and I really hope you enjoy your trip.

I await the backlash from our boarding friends.

I spent the day in Madonna late Jan and the snow was exceptional.
My two friends got back from Teaching in Tonnale last week something they have been doing for about 10 years and they said it was some of the best snow they have seen. (Tonnale is about half hour from madonna)

I had a pair of Volkl Walls untill they got nicked over new year and absolutly loved them. I have just brought a pair of Scott Punishers to replace them and after a week on them i have to say they Rock.

Different to the walls but id say slightly better.
Hi im off to the three valleys again on Tue for two weeks and wondered if any fellow J2skiers would be there.
Passo Tonale or Bardonecchia

Hi only been to Passo and I would say its pretty good for Boarders.
Hardly any drag lifts and none that you need to use. All Chairs.
Good progression for begineers. Excellent snow record and its great at the moment I was there two weeks ago.
Lift pass is cheap and so is the apres (compared to France)

Im off to 3V on Tue and its three times the price for lift pass and drinks.
