Getting One Last week in.
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 1 Reply
I have decided that as its such an awsome year for snow that one final week away is in order (dont tell my Bank Manager).
Cant decide weather to go back to Tignes (as last april was fantastic) or try Val Thorens (cheap apartment in Les Menuires.
Any thoughts or alternative suggestions anyone?
I am also not going to Val Cenis (again this season) however i was their 2 weeks ago and it was one of the best weeks skiiing ever. Snow nearly every night and untracked all day. Even managed to ski 3 hours one morning without seeing another soul. Total Bliss.

cautious intermediate - and me, the absolute beginner.

Obviously the snow is the highest priority, but also pleasant surroundings would be nice.

I would have though tonnale fitted them perfectly.

Hi Id steer cleer of Mayahofen if you dont want to get up early in the morning as even with the new lift its still a drag getting up the mountain. Amazing me looking back at the early 80s when we used to wait over an hour to get up the Cable Car every morning and sometimes the same to get down. People just woudnt do that now.

Id stick to France this late generally higher resorts and ski in ski out.
If your looking for cheaper then Passo de Tonnale is great in itally very pretty and high plus some good north facing slopes. Buckets of snow this year as well.

Of course the best place for your requirements is Soldeau in Andorra but its quite a long transfer.
Why can't I turn left?!

I always go to Tignes for my late season. Went 2nd week in April last year just before it closed had three dumps of fresh powder and empty slopes.
However if your worried about knees stick to the glacier and come down on the lift.
It gets slushy near the bottom wherever you go.
My tip would be get a pair of twin tips make skiing slush much easier on the legs.

Im off to teach with a company called T&M Travel half term.
Some of my Friends have been teaching with them for years after trying a number of other school operators they much prefer this lot.

They use English instructors and the kids get six hours on the snow every day plus evening activities. They are supervised all day on the slope including meals and breaks Its a smaller company so they provide a much more personal service than the big boys like interski.

Didnt pass on any of the extra costs to the schools this year that have been caused by the exchange rate and fuel prices which impressed me when i heard as i know a lot of the other companies have.
I cant find the web site but the contact number for the offices is 01502589244
