About two years ago we did the Canadian immigration points/score test for the Provence of Alberta, in principle subject to visa application the points scoring system gives you a good indication of how successful your application to emigrate would be. Scary thing is we have the desirable skills, Electrician & Nurse & qualified under the skills shortage quota. My wife was & still is as keen as mustard to go but I have too many reservations.

Interesting piece on the helemet debate. Tony H this one is for you. Enjoy. Skiing is about the wind in your hair and the sun on your face as you personally describe the contours of snow-covered mountains at extraordinary speed. It is the closest many of us come to flight. It is my humble but deep belief that it should involve the maximum communion with nature, and that means no helmet for me. For the sake of completeness I should add that I did hit a tree the other day, but I hit it nose?first. A helmet would have made no difference – and you should have seen the tree. The only negative ski experiences that I have personally endured were all caused by using hire boots. I agree with Tony H on this one, you really should buy a pair of correctly fitted boots. Finn |

Back in 2000 I use to ski on the Bandit xx which were the forerunners of the B1 & B2 skis. These skis were awsome & at the time were the best ski I had ever used. Pretty much go anywhere ski but to be fair at that time I was skiing piste only. Not sure about the length, lot of advice on the site at the moment on ski length. 170cm might be a short but its down to the feeling you get when on snow that counts. A good guide would be to compare your physical size & skiing ability to that of the seller, if you are both similar the likelyhood is that these skis will be good for you. The price seems fair for skis in good condition.

Enjoyed reading your report Ally, sounds like the ski school experience was really good but a bit expensive.
When we go to France we only put the kids in ski school for the morning sessions. Finn |
