Hey, I have a great idea. Extend your vacation and do 5 days in Banff, then get the train through the Rockies and do another 5 days in Whistler :) Sorted ) |

Are you thinking about the etape?
My brother in law did it a couple of years ago and damn near killed himself going up the Tourmalet  Idiot, never catch me doing something as silly as going up a mountain in the summer, far better to wait till the winter and come down it I say  |

Hiya Felicaro, welcome to the forum.
OK, I have not (yet) been to Whistler, but I was in Banff two seasons ago. Personally I really liked the place, but there are some things you need to be aware of if you don't already know. When skiing from Banff, you need to catch a bus out to one of three ski areas. Norquay is the closest at about a 10 minute ride, but is the smallest of the ski areas. Next up was Sunshine Mountain at about 30 minutes ride. It is the biggest area if my memory is correct and was without doubt my favourite area. Finally you have Lake Louise at about an hour run. Lake Louise is also pretty big and some great skiing here including the world cup downhill run. Don't let the buses put you off, the journey goes pretty quick and they are included on your lift pass. Gives you a chance to sit and relax on the way back and to digest your breakfast in the morning. Banff town was great, there are tons of bars and restaurants, plus plenty of shops, albeit fairly expensive, to keep the ladies busy :D There are also other things to see and do, such as the Sulphur Springs and the frozen waterfall. I would definitely go back to Banff, but I would ensure I was central in the town. But I also really want to try Whistler, so I guess this isn't really going to help you decide  All I can say to end it, is that you will have a good time in Banff and there is some pretty good skiing. Whatever you decide, you will have a great time ) |

:D
Thanks Crispy, I was already planning on maybe catching the finish in Boulougne, then watch the roll out from Abbeville the following morning followed by a quick dash down to Rouen for the the finish of that stage. Abbeville is a lovely old town, and would make a good place to stay for the night if there is anything still available  |

I agree, but in fairness, now that recording is mainly via hard drives I simply set it to record for 4 hours after it is supposed to be finished.
At least the TDF takes priority when it is on. My highlight of the summer watching Cav spank them down the Champs  I might even pop over to see a couple of stages next year as the route is pretty close to me here in Kent. I need to have a good read up on the stages and see if there is a chance I can see Cav win one in the flesh. |

The dang snooker is over running. I can count less than 10 people in the audience in what must be the most important snooker event on the calendar  Ohh, it makes me mad!! |

I should point out, it is now supposed to be on HD at 3pm, assuming the damn snooker does not over run as well  :!:
