Indeed, that did rather upset me this morning. I fail to see why we cannot also have access to proper "Eurosport" here in the UK rather than the Sky controlled UK version. It is after all supposed to be a free channel  |

Morning Carltonhat.
Interesting question. I just looked up the prices, and for ref they are, full paradiski 6 day pass €254, discovery pass €237 and Les Arcs/Peissey Vallandry €214 OK, for many years, people used each resort as a base for their skiing, and had no issues with just that area. I have not skied La Plagne, but I have skied Les Arcs. If the snow is good, then to be honest it is enough. However, it would also be nice to spend at least one day on the other side to see if you like it enough to return there as a base for another holiday. It must also be a massive experience going over in the cable car  Personally, I would go for the discovery pass and pick a really good day to do the other side. Not sure how often the wind closes the cable car, but pick the earliest good day to go. Hope that helps. Edit.. Alternately, check to see if you can buy a daily upgrade, and if so just get the local pass, then if you fancy a day over the other side upgrade when you need it. |

Morning Crispyapplepie,
Yep :-) :D :P Season is now officially under way. The womens event was yesterday, and obviously both of the mens runs taking place this morning. It is up on the glacier, and is the traditional start to the season. Full race/season info from the following sites http://www.skiweltcup.soelden.com/main/EN/SD/WC/index.html http://www.fis-ski.com/ |

It was two seasons since I was last there, and the lift only went up to the first station, it was back on the old wooden chairlift after that to get up to the top. The cable car now goes all the way up. Was that running like that when you were last there? |

Wickers, you will be pleased to know that I had a good chat with a lady from Livigno on the Italian stand at the ski show.
The new cable car from the bottom of the town up to the Costa Dal Sol area is now complete, and she claims they have replaced two other lifts completely and will be adding another chair in from the town area. They are also trying to increase the ski area, especially over the back side of Mottoloino, but at the moment there is an issue with wildlife. Her words went something like " We can hunt the animals, we can shoot the animals, we can cook and eat them, but we are not allowed to wake them up from a new piste!" However, she thinks that an expansion may be allowed within a few years. |

Sorry to hijack, but cannot resist.
 That's what they told you  We could start a whole new campaign here. Marmotte - Love it or hate it! ![]() |

I cannot comment on actual baby/toddler activities, but I would say that the Italians have always been excellent with young children when we have been skiing with a family group.
I am however, talking about children in the 5-10 year age gap. Still worth checking some of the Italian resorts though. |
