My wife has a pair of Atomic Metro 10 skis and finds them too heavy.

They are fitted with Neox 'Demo' bindings and I am looking for something much lighter.

I understand that 311. 412 and 614 bindings would be ok

Does anybody have any suggestions or better still suitable bindings for sale

Thanks

Welcome to J2ski :D Metron's are a heavy ski, so no matter what binding you fit, they will still weigh a ton. My suggestion is to sell the Metron's as they are, then look at the large range of women's skis that are now available. Avoid rail system bindings to save weight.

Thanks for your help; the main problem is that she loves the skis but hates the weight.

Have to work out a compromise somehow but thanks anyway

I love the Metron skis as well, though the weight is a pain. The latter model Neox bindings are lighter, but you might want to look at Atomic race bindings, which are lighter still. Also you might want to look at the Metron M9, which was a lighter version of the M10, but I thought was as good, with a little less rebound.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

The reason that my wife loves the skis is that no matter at what speed she skis they never give way especially on very hard/fast turns.

I've beeen told that the 311,412 or 614 will save approx 350 grams per ski so it is worth considering.

The presenmt bindings seem to have a few layers, will other bindings fit the existing holes in skis or will new holes be needed?

Kind regards

The other Atomic bindings (Neox & race) should slot straight onto the rails. No screwing needed.

If I had to recommend a lighter carving ski to replace the M10, it would be this one

Thanks for that but it is my impression that it is the rails that cause the weight and I need to place bindings direct to the ski without rails

If I'm talking rubbish please let me know

Thanks

I wouldn't bother, just get a different ski. M10s still get a reasonable price on ebay, so ditch them, and start from scratch. There has been a lot of improvements in ski design, since the Metrons were new. Several skis I can think of, will out perform the M10 these days.

But to answer your question directly, You could mount any regular binding on to the flat ski (other than the rail type you mention above). You may have trouble finding a ski tech to do it for you though, as the Metron was designed with the rail/plate, and did not come as a flat ski.
