This is true. If you're going on a skiing holiday, in all honesty, how much time are you going to spend in your Hotel anyway??
I'm going to be staying in La Vanoise myself. It seems to have a mixed bag of reviews, but its right next to the lifts, so I'll be skiing into bed, and then skiing straight out again in the morning...
I guess its horses for courses, me and my lot prefer a decent place to stay and still ski in and out
and also possibly eat the food, my days staying in dodgy hotels are long since gone. 8)
