Snow this week

Spring conditions dominated European slopes over the last week or so... but that's changing as winter fights back today.

European Weather and Snow Next Week

We'll keep it brief... heavy snow and cold air is currently (Friday morning) pushing across The Alps, with reports of 10 degree (C) drops in temperature over breakfast!

Snow is likely to reach most Alpine resorts over the weekend, with significant accumulations (50cm+) to the North and West possible.

If you're traveling tomorrow then you should be prepared for some disruption as snow will fall to low altitudes in many areas. Drivers in the mountains should plan for Winter road conditions rather than Spring for the next few days.

Wind is going to be a feature of the weather for the next 24 hours or so, so temporary lift closures at altitude should be expected. Avalanche risks will be elevated following the new snow and considerable caution should be taken off piste, with local advice being paramount.

Clearer weather is likely to extend into The Alps from the South at the beginning of next week but a further period of decent snow looks very likely mid-week; keep an eye on our forecasts for the latest on that one.

The above cautions notwithstanding, anyone in the mountains next week should have great snow!

The long-term outlook is indicating cooler temperatures for early April; so this season is far from over.

Jolly good, carry on... :D

Great, smashing, super, lovely.

With Zermatt this weekend, possibly Engelberg next weekend and 5 days in Mayrhofen from the 7th April it seems to have turned out nice again!!

I can duly confirm Admins' Snow Forecast as it is snowing hard here in Swissieland, and very bloody windy, which is why I'm on the interweb and not up there

Planned to take the gondola down, but the lift co. were not letting peeps ride down. Just had to ski down the tree lined red 8)

not driving up until later tonight but can confirm that it definitely became colder in few hours between this morning and afternoon, and it was really nice to wake up and see the rain.

I am pleased to see this forecast too.

Taking a couple of 14 year olds to learn to snowboard next week and I'd heard the snow was well due a freshen up.

It is my daughter's friends 1st time and you can tell her parents don't ski, her Mum said - 'oh well if there's no snow' (there was never any chance of that) 'you can always find something else to do!'

NO! Rather not go than find a public swimming pool!

You all know where I'm coming from.....

Can you fix it for me for the snow to stop and the sun come out for Saturday the 3rd? Got my new skis this week - taking the train next Friday to arrive Sat morning (close call with the rail strike). I have had two very cold holidays this year and I was rather hoping for spring like conditions )

Hi

we're off to St Francois Longchamp on Apr 3rd, so can we have some good weather too please?

Never been to this resort so has anyone got any tips? (ski tips?) I've got a hire car so I'm thinking of buying the Maurienne explorer pass - 5 resorts 5 days 85euro - anyone done this? which are the best places for an improving beginner? Thanks

Well it's been tipping down with snow in the town here in Zermatt for the last hour or so. Was all fresh up there today and significant sun. Still windy, couldn't get to Italy but managed all of Zermatt in a day. I'm knackered mind. Spent my après ski in jewelers looking for an engagement ring. Found one but wanna do it together so I have to come back for Easter. Shame.
