I would aim to get some legal advice quite soon. Have a look at your Home Insurance Cover. Many policies have Legal Expenses Cover and this could be used to get you some time with a Barrister to discuss your situation and the best way forward for recompense.
You have left quite an audit trail already, so any shortcomings on the part of the ESF will show up in the documentation.
I was hit by a skier in 2005 and the impact broke my collarbone. I was invited by the attending Gendarme to bring charges of assault against the woman who ran into me. I declined to do so, as I'd been told that the law is not so clear cut in these matters. My collarbone took 16 weeks to knit, unpinned
Your bones will heal, the body will take it's own time. I know it's hard for you right now, but hang in there.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

On the basis of an isolated incident that is a bit of a knee jerk reaction

Never using ESF again either?!

Not in my book ...... Les Gets has joined the hit list

Edel, sorry to hear of your incident and do hope that you are on the road to recovery. It's my belief that the ESF have a duty of care. I think there was a post wrt to this earlier in the year.. my understanding is that this involved children and the ESF lost a court case with implications for all ski schools.
It seems to me (from your post) that you need to get a response from the ESF and may indeed need to contact the local Gendarmes... it seeming that legal advice is likely your way forward.. I'm not sure how you go about this as it is likely complicated by the incident having been in France. It does not seem to have been handled properly at the time.. It should have been treated in the same way as if it were a car accident.

Since the man who collided with you was also hurt (according to your account) I would have thought there was some chance that he went to a medical centre for treatment. If the police were involved they could possibly trace him through this, as I'm sure all centres have to keep records, the same as in this country, and you would of course have the approximate time of the accident and the date.

Best of luck with getting compensation for this, and I hope your recovery progresses well,

Ally

Sorry to hear about your accident and I hope you get better soon. I skied Les Gets this year and will go again next season.
Ready? I was born ready.
