I would also say that La Clusaz is an ideal resort to learn to ski and provides a perfect first experience of the Alps.

We can help with full week long trips in our chalet - details at http://www.karibuni.co.uk

Also - If you are looking for a great value experience then maybe try a midweek package for just 3 days, or a long weekend for 4 days.
You can get very cheap flights, a good value package and lots of support from our ski team - as well as a course of lessons to get you going.
Details of all the short breaks can be found at http://www.skiweekender.com

Whichever option you choose - I am sure you will love it and be hooked on a new passtime.

Best wishes

Paul

I second Arinsal in Andorra.. We went there for our first week away and although some parts of the beginner slopes get a little crowded, the terrain is beginner friendly but still has enough to keep pushing you for the week!

Have fun where ever you go!

I have already booked a skiing holiday in Oberau in Austria 19th December for a week over Christmas, but now I am bit concern that there will be not enough snow for skiing?

I understand that it is difficult to say if there is a snow or not but if you have any experience about the snow in previous years it would be helpful to say something

Crikey, thats an odd place to choose to go for a ski holiday. Not only is it a tiny place, there is hardly any slopes for skiing, although one way you've got a few slopes at Nieredau and the other way you've got the best selection at Auffach, but both either a drive or bus ride away.
Its also low down and therefore you might find snow cover erratic to say the least so early in the season. But thats the gamble.

If I was going pre Xmas I'd be heading upwards of 1800m at least.

Wisdom,

Oberau's fine. As Tony H says, you can catch the ski bus to either N or Auffach for free. True, there's not much skiing at Oberau itself except for the black(see avatar). Have been told it's the steepest in the valley,Dave Mac will know for sure. Which hotel are you in?
