Davesports ski hire shop 200 metres from hotel is very resonable in comparrison to the bigger and more expensive shops by the gondolla.British owned and ran.

Hi , Arrived back last week ,It all seems a distant memory now althogh the post ski depression has not kicked in yet tho !We had a horrible journey across, our flight was diverted from Innsbruck to Verona because of bad visability. we probably arrived at soll about 7 hours late at about 10 pm after various transfers.Much to the disgust of some of the staff at the hotel Dining room  who were waiting for us .The hotel was very clean our party made the most of the heated outdoor pool sauna and steam room but we found it quite strict and the manager would not seat all our party together in the dinning room which we found a pain. On the second day one of our party ended up at the hospital , 15 stitches in a leg wound after he fell on his ski on the way back from the moonlight bar ! The manager refused at first to put us a couple of hot meals aside for the guys who were at the hospital with him who were due to return at about 9 30 pm .After a heated exchange he relented , we were not impressed at all in the way it was all handled.
There was also some confusion with our lift passes that we had pre booked through Thomsons back in the UK. Three of them were youth passes that we did not pick up on until i was stopped at a lift by an angry austrian official  , luckily i was with Alan our ski instructor who sorted the problem out . Allegedly, there has been a few occasions where Crystal reps have been supplying youth passes to adults where adult passes have been paid for an pocketing the difference . It all could be a honest mistake but a few people over there did not think so , so beware and check your lift passes from Crystal!
As for the my 170 skis , i managed ok . I think that as i improve i will move on to longer skis and then i will probably notice the difference.
As for a review of Soll its self , Fantastic skiing ,Huge area, great apre ski and very quiet night life, A few bars had good bands on , Frog on the tyne and Bloodshot eyes were well worth a look. Not sure about the whisky mule club tho !

2 big observations here:

1. Diverted to Verona  Thats unusual, you would normally end up at Munich, but I guess they were probably full up with earlier diverted flights.

2. Crystal. This is another negative comment I have heard about them, and if what the poster says is true re booking youth passes and pocketing the difference, this is unacceptable behaviour and needs to be reported up. I have not heard a single positive thing about Crystal I am afraid.

We went there with Thomson's but it was Crystal who recieved us and repped us. I have to say we never had a problem with our passes at all but then again we had no reason to check them, so I do not know if we were had over or not. Touch wood we never had any injuries so we did not have to test the reps to much that being said apart from the first day I do not remember seeing her. On the whole we found the hotel very good. The hotel restaurant has a good reputation and couples etc come there to eat, so being a largish group we were occassionally loud, but not rude and the staff tried on a number of times to address this. If we were to go back again we have already made enquiries to eat in a side room separating us from those who are likely to complain.
Was suprised when you said you found it QT nightlife!!! I know my best years are behind me but we were not often in bed before 2 having had a great craic and we were on our way to the gondolla by 9 without fail. Maybe Im just easily pleased. It has to be said that we did end up in the Whiskey Mule on quite a few occassions!!

The reason why the diversion is to Verona, and not Munich, is that they have reps in Verona, but not in Munich.

Have heard of a recent case, where it seems a Thomson rep did a runner, owing a ski school quite a lot of money.

I agree with Tony, this needs to be reported to Crystal. I wonder if the 3 lift passes were offered just to the more "youthful" looking adults?

That makes sense. I just wish Ski France had reps in Geneva when we got diverted there in January.
Verona to Soll is a hell of a long transfer, but over the magnificent Brenner Pass, and through the gorgeous Trentino mountains.
