We covered this before. Bottom line is if you take a ski bag up to 23kg and put all your luggage in it (one of those multi sectioned wheelie bags would be ideal) then you WONT PAY A PENNY FOR SKI CARRIAGE. I think thats the best way round it with BA. If it weights 26kg they probably wont even charge your excess weight either.

Hi,

If they keep adding charges it will soon be cheaper to drive to the alps if three of four can share the car ,or if you plan going to the Tarentaise resorts ....let the train, take the strain :D

Fly Swiss - cheaper than BA (and most 'no-frills' airlines) and free ski carriage!

Interesting comments, When you consider BA used to offer free carriage on skis and may well of got more skiing customers as a result, I think they may loose custom if this is the case. I used BA last year and our skis went free of charge. The more competitive nature of the airline companies is bringing about casualties. I cannot understand why BA are charging so much more than the smaller companies however, look at the BA terms on the Inghams site and its there loud and proud £80 return for ski carriage. :(

They must be changing it. 4 days ago it was not £80. Not that a tenner makes so much difference...

You do get what you pay for to an extent. Free drinks on BA is worth its weight in Gin.
