This is very helpful, thanks. We have an Stand-Up paddle board here in the states and I've caught a few waves. My wife has never tried to catch one but she's comfortable on flat water. I think we'll need the real tame stuff, at least for the first go-round.
It looks like the places you mentioned are on the North Island. Any breaks on the South Island you can recommend? Also, are wet suits needed?
