It will be first time ever for my wife, i went to Skiing on a school trip once in 1995. I'll take a look at the all-inc stuff, sounds like minimum hassle.

Thanks

Its what we did for our first ever holiday, and the mountains at Axamer Lizum are amazing. Although you stay in the village at Gotzens its a bit quiet but you are not far from Innsbruck, Seefeld, Igls if you fancy any-thing a bit livlier.

How far is it from the village at Gotzens to the slopes? We're pretty fond of the quiet(ish) life so a small village sounds fine for us.

Listen to the sensible people and review your choices.
Look little further than the likes of Filzmoos, Obergurgl, or Lech- all 3 very different but possibly ideal for you.

Its about 20 mins on the ski bus which runs every half an hour, its free because you will have the lift passes. But when we were there about 6 yrs ago they were working on some nursery slopes actually in the village. Crystal also organise some trips in the evening as well.

Hi,
We skied for the first time last new year in Arinsal Andorra. Its great for beginners of all ages (we took our children with us) and there are plenty of nice bars and restaurants in the village. It's also duty free which is a bonus. The only downside is a pretty long transfer from either Toulouse or Barcelona of 3.5 to 4 hours on the coach. Don't let this put you off though.
We've opted to go back to Arinsal this year on the 30th January.
The prices are reasonable, the ski schools are excellent and they have loads of snow at the moment.
Another thing........... avoid the hotel Solana! We stayed there last year and it's awful!

Benny I too would recommend Arinsal. I was in exactly the same boat as you in 2007 (skied on a school trip to Switzerland around 96/97) I went to Arinsal with a couple of mates who'd never skied at all and they got on brilliantly. Couple of lessons from the top notch ski school was all we needed to enjoy the week.
The Sant Andreu hotel's basically a second home for us now (recommend it 100%) and we're off there again on the 29th.
Andorra's got it's limitations once you reach a certain level but there's enough out there for me and it's still a bargain in my opinion.

Clarkysteph - might see you on the slopes! Where you staying this year?

Ryan
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

Yes Ryan i'll look out for you! We're staying at the Sant Moritz this year which came highly recommended by some people we met in Arinsal last year. We arrive on the 30th Jan so will hopefully bump into you (not literally I hope)! Blue ski jacket and red trousers and shiny new Salomon boots! 25 days and counting woohoo! :D
