:D Excellent find Sir. And a great place to make sure you have your high vis vests for anyone driving through France.

I don't think I could give up my Ray Bans or Oakleys in favour of safety glasses

Really you just need to try a few pairs on and see how you go, poorly fitting sunglasses will be a nightmare skiing...

The biggest difference between Bolle safety glasses and Oakleys, is about ten times the profit margin

(I want to make it clear the 1 star wasn't me)

Warranty + 'style', both of which (for me) are worth the premium. I won't pretend to know anything about lens quality, mostly because I haven't compared them, but I am going to guess there is something in there about that too.

I need prescription sunglasses and went into 20:20 Optical on Tottenham Court Road on Saturday to look at some Oakleys. The girly wanted over £300 for the frames including prescription lenses  Needless to say I didn't buy them. I might order from the internet as some sites let you enter your prescription. But I really would prefer to try them on first.

Another vote for Oakley Flak Jackets here - bought mine in Montreal 3 years ago and they're fab

Probably some sunglasses dealer  (or maybe someone just too cowardly to post a counter view)

You are right to a point. It's the same as camera lenses, you pay more for precision and coatings. My point is that they still get scratched, and sat on. The two important considerations are comfort from glare, and 100% UV filtration, both of which Bolle safety glasses meet. Not everyone has the money to spend on designer sun glasses, and the Bolle safety glasses are very well made

A pair of Oakley Half Jackets will cost around £80. Yes it's a lot compared to a pair of safety glasses but I don't just wear my Oakleys for skiing. I work in them, cycle, sail etc etc. The lenses are impact tested and the frames are designed not to splinter on impact. Having had them for over 7 years I think approx £11.50 per year for a pair of sunglasses isn't too expensive.
By the way, it wasn't me that gave the one star.

Edit: Returned mine to Oakley for a minor repair. They came back with the lens scratches removed, new ear rubbers and the repair done - cost nil.
