There are a few new chair lifts in place, mainly above the Chantmerle sector, but no way near enough, especially along the links between the sectors. The old 3 man chairs are very exposed, and very aggressive as well, and there are still too many drag lifts. The boarders in our group were very annoyed about this, and had to plan their route around the mountain to avoid them, which meant they refused to do certain bits with us skiers.
Still, I dont mind drags, and I dont try and avoid any lifts for the sake of getting about, and I can only re-emphasise what a superb ski area this is.

As for the new skis - the difference was amazing. The Blizzard carvers were as good as usual on groomed pistes, but I was able to get a stronger edge on the Scotts, and the difference in the powder was massive. I felt like I could power down through anything with them on. They werent any good on the moguls though, too long at 178cm!

I urge anyone to try Serre Che if they have contemplated it.

Not sure whether I'm right but I wonder if places like Serre Chevalier would lose the appeal that TonyH found there if they upgrade? Simply because more people would go there.

The money also has to come from somewhere so I assume the lift pass prices would increase. Have to confess I don't actually know what a weeks pass is there (I could look, I know) but places like the 3V passes are vvv expensive for a family of 4. It's good to find a place you rate so much, even with the downsides.

Rose,
I don't know if Tony went with Rocketsi but I do know that they are owned by Equity Ski who I've been with several times.

Equity do total ski where you get all components for your money. Rocket ski use the same resorts and hotels but you can use them for just accommodation, travel, passes etc....

If I went with Equity again (they have got expensive) I would use Rocket ski as we own our own kit and discounts for not using their's isn't great.
Also, some of the resorts they use have really cruddy kit - my daughters skis fell apart in Prato Nevoso.
I bought my own boots after the same trip as there was absolutely no padding in the fronts of the hire ones and my shins were raw after 1st day. I did obviously change them but it took a coupler of days before they were comfy.

Schladming with them was good - Hotel Rossl, basic, but suited us.
Claviere - Passero Pellegrino was really nice. Nice resort - I'd recommend.
Andalo - Really nice resort, sadly the hotel (Continental) has been removed from their brochure
Prato Nevoso - not really our cup of tea - but our kids were small and it just wasn't the right place for us.

The office in Brighton seems well run. The staff are helpful and friendly. And the brochure....Get it just to browse through!

It's easy to look at, large and prices are on resort page.

Dids.
