Get cash out here and go to your local co-op who will give you the best rate available and no commission charge. otherwise taking cash at on your card abroad usually involves a fee which makes the slightly more attractive exchange rate a non starter.
You can use debit cards anywhere usually, no min amount I have come across, but stick to cash to avoid further charges.

Ta for the advice guys...

Just one more question :)

Having read the recent chat around the ski schools in Niederau it seems that a number of people rate the Reds (??)...we have pre booked ski school through Crystal does anyone know which ski school they use as I am keen to progress..

Cheers

I booked via Thomson this year, now same as Crystal, and they use the Reds.

From what I remember I think it is First Choice who use the Blues.

First Choice is also Crystal Ski now. Rep for First Choice at Niederau last year told us it was more than likely they would be using the Reds from 2009 onwards, but wasn't 100% sure. It's a shame really, as both our kids learnt with the Blues the last 2 years with First Choice. Excellent tuition. The Reds were swamped, meaning our kids had 1 on 4 tuition with the Blues which brought them on really quickly and they were both on Red/Black by the end of the week. the children then were 5 and 8 years old.

Some parents took there children out of the Reds into the Blues during the week as they felt their children were not progressing as quickly due to the amount of children in the groups. We saw groups of 10 children to 1 instructor. Saying that, what we saw was excellent tuition from both camps.

This I must say was not even during half-term, so I hate to think what happens then.

I think the Nationwide flex account is possibly the only card account which doesn't charge a fee for ATM cash withdrawals when abroad. Plus being a building society you may get a slightly better rate than the banks.
