Just had friends come back from Meribel and they said take loads of money.
A pizza, salad, glass of coke glass of lager 32euros, Burger 22euroes, Burger and Chips 28euroes.
I know the pound to euro is bad but they are seriously taking the piss here.

You could also check out St Martin de Bellville for a quieter alternative. It has some great restaurants.
Probably not so good late season but you can easily download on the gondola which is never that busy.

There will be a lot more Brits in Meribel up until 11th April. The British Senior/Junior/Children's champs are from 28th Mar to 11th Apr. There will be several hundred families all with the best of British talent racing mainly in Meribel but with some races in Motterat and Corchevel. There were several of the French World cup team competing last year so it is always worth a watch.
Still think Meribel is best suited as it is in the middle of the 3 valleys, but it's not cheap!!!

Sorry to hi-jack your thread...but all the advice on here has been very useful...
We're trying to make the same decision (but snowboarding) during the 1st week of March.
The main argument against Meribel seems to be the snow in April - is this less of a risk in March?
Also, we've been hearing a lot about the Apres-Ski in Merible being much better than Val T? Anyone able to comment on this? Is it feasible to stay in Val T and travel to Meribel in the evenings?
Finally, if accomodation in the centre of Merribel proves too costly, we may stay in Merribel Village - any opinions about this resort?
Thanks in advance for your help!

which is exactly why, scousefly, my trip will include a packed lunch every day;
"The holiday will be a wee bit more special as I'm looking at personalising the catering due to the poor exchange rate. Rather than offering the huge sumptious freshly baked cakes every afternoon - I'll maybe just get some nice brownies and cookies from the supermarket to nibble on with a cuppa when you get back from skiing and instead offer a substantial packed lunch to take with you on the mountain. This will save you £10-£15 per day! You can even take plastic bottles of wine if you like.
Things like -
Tuna Pasta Salad. Freshly deep filled baguettes, Couscous
Good selection of fruit
Tracker bars or Granola Bars
Piece of cake
Nuts and seeds?
Nothing like crisps, yogurts etc just in-case those less stable on our feet crash a few times and crush it all! (That would be me!)"
I must have spent about £200 in one week just fedeing myself at lunchtime!

rs303: In the evening the only way to get from VT to Meribel is by road. It's between 40 and 50 kms! A taxi would cost you between £100 and £200 at a guess!!!
If snow's a problem in early March it'll be a problem everywhere!!!!
anyway, slush was designed for boarders wasn't it?
