Here is what they do in Quebec City on this side of the pond. It must help to kill the boredom of winter for the non-skiers. The daft non-skiers

The Welsh dam would be tame if frozen - in comparison.

I have seen the advertisement for the 2009 version of this "fun" event in the Halifax rinks. This is where being an "old codger" has its merits :-)

tino ... you would love this..

There are several other video links once you have this one.

Talk about pain :!:

Mike, now that looks like fun, but all the padding is a bit girly really.

tino,

I agree... how can the medics be efficient if they have to cut through all that padding to get to some decent compound fractures?

It does look like fun though doesn't it. Roller derby on ice

If I go - I'm leaving the padding at home .... no pain - no gain :!:

It's a bit like chopping chilli peppers and not sticking your fingers in your eyes, or not scratching your 'friends' after plaing with iron filings in science lessons, or like waking up on the tram within 30 miles of your home when its -30 outside and you are dressed as batman after he has brushed his teeth. Just no fun with all this H&S bullsh*t.

No, even in my Yaking heyday I would have bottled on that one :-o The biggest danger for those guys was in the uncontrolled airbourne phase at the bottom, there is a risk of a sideways pancake landing that could shorten the spine by a few vertebrae.

More recently I discovered there are better things to do in the winter besides kayaking
