Will the cold affect a camera, memory card batteries etc? Are there such things as insulated camera bags?

Initially it will slow it down but eventually it will stop working. You can get insulated camera bags. Dakine do a special photographers bag. If you are using it down to about -10/15 the warmth from your hand will keep it going.. any colder you run the risk of it freezing up on you.

One thing to be aware of with High Definition.
To burn to HD DVD / Blu-Ray for HD playback. If producing on the MAC you will need a piece of software called Toast 9 available from Roxio at $99.99. Also an additional high-defBlu-ray plug-in will be needed. The plug-in allows you to burn content to standard DVDs.
One nice thing with Toast is that it will also recognise the Camcorder and you can copy directly onto DVD for playback on the TV.

You can still put it on dvd's without the software and play it straight to an HD tele without the need for extras.
