Get a wax and your edges done, should set you back about £15-£20 in the UK/

We should all always wax our skis at the end of the season prior to putting them away, making sure the wax runs over the edges. Result, no rust, no white base.
During the season I will get the edges sharpened about every three/four weeks, less if snow is great, more if on a hard piste, and stony. Normally wax twice a week, should be every day really. Towards the season end, on soft snow, every day, and rub on twice a day, particularly on the tails.
You might pay 20/22 Euros for a sharpen and wax. It pays to get to know the technician, and sometimes the price falls. 10 Euros if you get really pally.

sounds like others have pretty much asnwered that one, i would say prior to of after every trip they should get at least a coat of wax and edges /base grinds as required
