Ok so maybe i should pay an extra few pence and get a proper one.

incidently... seriously do some downhill bikers not wear helmets, i've never seen one not wear a helmet??? some people are nuts

I meant downhill bikers not using cycle helmets and using full face ones, not them not having one at all, that would be mad ) or even madder than doing it in the first place :)

Because the ski ones look so much better. Check out "Sweet" full face helmets and tell me you'd rather a sh*tty Giro number.

Very angry looking helmet indeed, i like it.

Cant find the Full Face one in the UK though, and it is far too expensive for me. I think i'll stick to the Sh*tty Giro number, unless anyone has a cunning plan to get a nice one cheap???

Ahh, see right back to the original question, can/should full face bike helmets be used on snow???

Need a full face because i keep belting my jaw with my knee on landings, hehe have also managed to punch myself in the face a few times with my pole. Just bored of worrying about my teeth everytime i land wrong. I have a normal race helmet but the gate guard just doesnt cut it.

you'll need to ask what standard any helmet conforms to and see.

In general, can normal cycle helmets be used? That's definitely no. Can a downhill one be used? That seems possible on paper at least.

If you use the wrong one, not only are you risking injury but also your insurer turning around and telling you they're not going to pay out which is worth thinking about.

Good point on the Insurance card, that said i think my Austrian Insurance from TSLV covers me in a lot of circumstances. will have to have a look at that....although not sure about off piste.

As for how big, it is not that big, i am scared of hights (yup pansy) i would say maybe 15-20 foot drops maximum. I'm a racer really, i like my feet on the ground, i just like going too fast.

(oh i also asked Giro as suggested, i cant see them recommending it for legal reasons tho)
