Cheap resorts in Eastern Europe

There are lots of small resorts in Slovakia - many villages in the mountains have their own ski hill with 1 or 2 lifts. These are very cheap but subject to random open/closed times - they are not 'resorts' as such....
Jasna is the all-singing all-dancing resort in this part of Europe, perhaps not what you are looking for; however the beers and food are very good and very cheap....
Try Donovaly. It's a smaller Slovak resort but still retains the feel of a resort so you can get the feel of one.
Hi, i have just looked at your website and i have to say that i don't find this accommodation 'cheap'! Please correct me if i'm wrong, but for the first week in March it will cost £230 EACH person for a week?
In Borovets last year, I paid £350 for a two bedroomed apartment for 8 days. Although it had facilities for 6 people, just 4 of us shared for £87.50 each for 8 days. And this apartment was practically next door to the lifts. I hope to better this deal this year!!
Yes, i now see that it includes breakfast too. Still not what i call 'cheap'though!!
And a lift pass appears to cost 169 Euros. This is surely more than at Borovets where it costs £90 i think.
And a main meal in local village 'from £4'.....I know that in a village close to Borovets i can get an excellent main meal from £2 in a new restaurant i visited recently...
It seems that we all have a different idea of 'cheap'!
Thanks for this info, if you have any particular recommendations for cheap places to stay and eat please do pass them on! :-)

Check out velka raca in slovakia, small resort but perfect for beginners. They are expecting to have the whole resort open by next week. It's much cheaper than Jasna and you get to stay very close to the slopes.

Hi Mary
I've PM'd you with a note re skiing and snow at Zakopane. Why not sign up for the snow reports or try Metcheck which I find if really good

XT600, that may be because he's offering a package exclusive of flights, and it's not an apartment.
chaletslovakia, you mention on your site that you are experienced guides. What are your guiding qualifications pl?

Velka raca, Vratna or Martinske Hole would be more up your street then. The best accomodation will only be 80 quid tops. We've stayed in some places for as little as £50 each for a week although there were a variety of different wild animals decorating the walls! and other peoples clothes in the wardrobes. I know for sure that in Velka Raca you will be staying right in resort, very close to the lifts with free ski bus around the village.
Check out www.Velkaraca.com, www.vratna.sk and www.martinskehole.sk all great resorts and dont worry about the low altitude i've been going to slovakia for last five years and have never had a problem with lack of snow.
