I went to Pas De La Casa for my first ski trip 2 years ago. A group of 6 lads and the place was great. The snow forecast was poor and there wasnt much of the white stuff but we all managed to have fun and ski where we wanted. There were 2 experienced, 2 who had done a learn to ski in a day lesson at Milton Keynes (1 being myself,) 1 who did a 1/2 day lesson at MK and one complete beginner. Everyone found they had fun and there was plenty open to keep us occupied including the black back off the mountain which I did every day (probably not the best to do a black on your first day on actual slopes but I survived). The begginer did a 2 hour 1 to 1 lesson on the first day and was then out with us every day.

The night life is great and I would say the area is suited to groups that want to have fun off the slopes as well as on. However you mention that you want a short transfer so its probably not the place for you as it takes about 4 hours by coach. Saying that its very cheap and we slept most of the way so it didnt really matter.

I'm off to Sainte Foy Tarentaise this christmas / new year which will be a totally different experience and I cant wait......

Did you soak them in vinegar and bake them in the oven for hours?

i've been to morzine/les gets every year for the last 3 years at xmas/new year. we had great snow every time!!

so altitude is not the be all and end all. Plus with Morzine - at least you have a nice town and don't have to suffer the ugliness of Avoriaz - just use and abuse its altitude.

:P
