You must be young. You maybe don't recall the ash trays in elevators (oops lifts) and department stores, smoking allowed in the rear of the bus (which meant all except the first two rows of seats), the novelty of non smoking railway carriages, machines where kids could win a packet of five fags at amusement arcades, and of course, everyone behind the bar in the pub had one burning in an ashtray. Oh and funniest of all, you needed a gas mask to go into the teachers lounge at school.

I believe the Gansleit is the first non smoking hotel in soll.

and on aeroplanes and the london underground! those were the days when I used to smoke. so glad I don't now, what a pain in the back side.

Niederau's Harfenwirt is No Smoking in the restaurant area.

In the Bichlwirt, I have no problem in asking people in the front room not to smoke, can't guarantee, but most people oblige.
