Did you manage to dodge the weather sufficiently well?

We made the Wildhorn, Schneiderhorn and Wildstubel summits and some others but the weather was brutal, -20' in the mornings, wind, high avalanche risk at times, snow and poor visibility but as luck would have it, I'm fairly hardcore :D

Hmmm, I just looked at your photos. There appears to have been one sunny day, and the rest look like it was blowing a hooley. Still, it could have been a lot worse, imagine being snowed in at a mountain hut and having to eat one of the group. Now that's fairly hardcore )

Yep, sorry ise, we're only going to accept your claims of being hardcore when one of your blogs recounts having eaten one of your party... 8)

Which comment leaves me wondering if that falls within bandit's experience!?

Talk about an open question... "good skiing" is anything that sends you home with a smile on your face!

That could be anything from making your first turn on an almost flat slope to making your first turn in waist-deep powder. It can be looking back up your first Black Run and thinking "YES, I did that", or cruising miles in Spring sunshine from a coffee in one pretty village to a lazy lunch in the next.

Even riding the first lift up in the morning and humming the theme to 2001 with your mates as the sun breaks over the mountains... 8)

For a taster, have a browse in the forum and see what pushes the buttons of some of our regular posters; some very different people doing some very different things :-

- Read Pavelski's posts for some great tales and one man's Zen of Ski.
- Check Trencher's carving videos (don't try this on your first day).
- Browse ise's blog for great views and a wilder side.

So little time, so many mountains... enjoy.

0730 hrs, 3250m after a 300m climb starting at 0630. Then a 500m descent in untracked powder to the plaine morte glacier, an ascent of the Wildstrubel (top left) followed by a 1000m descent in fresh powder. Skiing fresh powder at 7:30 in the morning is pretty special :D

Thigh high, light powder on the pistes...the bashers left it all alone!

Absolutely wonderful....and snowing all the way to Geneva on the way home....
