No offence taken... "pimping" to us is when people promote their own services, or websites, in an overhyped fashion (or, as sadly happens quite regularly, by registering multiple accounts and placing false recommendations).

Absolutely no problem to report good service or bad.

You raise a good point though; it's always better to place reports of poor service in a context that leaves the offender with room to respond. Mistakes do happen and the majority of businesses will be keen to resolve an issue to the customer's satisfaction.

There's a lot to be said for that, not because the boot fitting is better, but because you can get things changed after you have tried the boots actually skiing. If they were good for nothing else, dry slopes give you a chance to test how boots fit and works. I can't imagine going away on a trip with untried boots.

I guess what makes a good boot fitter great, is mainly communication. This is especially true when the buyer is inexperienced and does not know what to look for.

My ski buddy, Mel, who has been skiing for at least 600 years in the same ski boots, recently started to suffer foot pains. He asked Katriona in Blachfelders, Niederau for assistance. She Measured his feet, (using a pressure bed), for the standard measurements, length, width etc. Also, arch height, pronation. They organised was some slight changing of the boot wall, a boot arch-lifting inner sole, change of socks.

A week later, his wife arrived, and hired boots,(hers having just arrived at the end of their natural life). She received the identical service/treatment. The fit was so good they made an offer to buy, which was accepted.

You may have to pay a bit for this level of personal service. However, when considered against the comfort levels/cost of multiple holidays during the boot life, I submit there must be a real cost saving.

The correct boots, and their fit, are far more impotant than choice of ski.

I am interested in the name of the Scottish boot specialist should anyone know that. I have heard there is one in Blairgowrie.

My wife had a similar problem a couple of years ago, lost both nails and had sore feet. One possibility that was suggested was that she was ski-ing leaning back in her boots which was causing her toes to lift up onto the front of her boots. I see it was your girlfriend's first trip so maybe this was part of the problem.
