hi Ronster
All comments are valid, especially the one about all credit for getting into clothes you had 10 years ago, but I would say that modern clothing technology ensures you won't be wet inside and dry outside. TK maxx has been mentioned but many other outlets also have reasonably priced good gear. Essential to consider base layers, mid weight fleece and breathable outer layer. It would be a shame to not enjoy your return to skiing by sweating like a pig, and for the sake of some new clothes. If your 10 year old stuff is nevica with pink and orange flashes on a predominantly black background...respect!!! but let it go. Have you also considered that the modern skiing style has also evolved somewhat over the past ten years. Have a great holiday!!

How about a combination of 2 and 3 Hirsty? Want something that can keep you warm dry, but get new stuff every year that keeps you warm and dry just because you can and want to look good?

Rossfra8 - You do have a point there.
If you follow 3 you'll be a more subtle version of 2 without the fear of looking back at photos in years to come and having one question coming to your mind - "why?"

I'm a 4:
4. Look as good as possible in smart gear that you paid about a third of the price for, and p*** everyone off when they find out your ultra smart jacket was £34 over a beer sometime late afternoon, having spent the maximum time on the slopes during the day actually skiing and not worrying about which type of coffee to drink or where to sit to be seen drinking it.

I'm a 5:
Buy expensive gear and use as a motivational aid. I quite like to put on my Spyder gear whilst hoovering etc. Makes the whole process a lot more exciting.
Perhaps that's just me

Strictly speaking it's for the staff but you know how it is, one likes to entertain ones self by playing the role of the commoner - in Spyder gear.
