I'm sure I shall. It will be my first time skiing in France. Like seemingly a lot of people on this forum, Austria is our favorite.

Hi there

I'm going to Tignes on the 1st Dec, you've got me thinking now, is the whole Espace Killy open then or not? If not then what is open from 1st-8th Dec?

I think last year the Espace Killy opened on the 24th or 25th of November so you should be fine.

I think they're scheduled to open 1st Dec' this year. It's pretty sure that the whole area won't be open at that point but they're should be some a reasonable area open.

If there's a replay of last season they'll be some problems again of course, the snow accumulation at altitude should be starting from October onwards really and that just didn't happen last year.

Hi

Just found this forum and very glad I did!!!

Thinking of going on the Atomic Boot Camp, however has anyone been on one before? Is it for 'hardcore' skiers only?

I have about 4 or 5 weeks skiing so can make it down a mountain!! However my wife has only skied twice and is still quite a nervous skier

Put it this way, two of our group have never skied before in their lives! We spoke to Mountain Sun about it (the organisers) and they had no problem with beginners making the most of the offer.

When you think about it, a novice skier who doesn't know one brand from the next will certainly remember Atomic after three days using their equipment!

ellistine wrote:Yeah, that's kind of what I was expecting. We can always keep our fingers crossed though can't we - and our toes as we're actually staying in Tignes Les Boisses which is even lower than Tignes itself.

I suppose the one advantage of it being winter season rather than summer/autumn is that the pistes may stay open to later than 2pm.

Either way it will certainly beat the 110m dryslope I've been using all summer!

If you are in les Boisses make sure you know the bus times upto le Lac. At that time of year there will be probably only 2 or 3 each way a day. You'll have to change buses in le Lac to get to Val Claret, and hence onto the glacier.
Expect to be sharing the glacier with race teams doing their pre-season training & carving the snow down to the glacier ice.
If you are VERY lucky you may be able to ski down to Val Claret from the glacier.
