La thuile to Courmayuer is poss but check out buses/taxis.
Id choose La Ros over La Thuile...but mainly because we only did day trips to la thuile and you spend more time getting there so never have a full day that side. The Col distracts you..lol

Having been there later in the season I probably wouldn't choose it at that time of year. To be honest it's Ok for beginners or early intermediates (and those who don't like to get lost as most of the runs are off the main road)
Don't know about Madonna - had a day there but it was rtoo foggy to appreciate!
Hi Andymol2,
Thank you for your advice. We will give Passo Tonale a miss this time. Regards,

Hi Sonofapreacher,
Great insight ! La Rosiere with La Thuile sounds great ! We will monitor snow reports closely :) I have heard good reports about Courmayeur. Perhaps a day trip option ?
Monterosa and Madonna have been on our list for a while but maybe it can wait ...
Many thanks !

Hi Daved,
Thank you for your advice.
Would love to visit Madonna especially as we love main Dolomites area so much !
However I am concerned about snow conditions in April as the top lifts there go only to about 2600m while in La Rosiere up to 2800m now and in Monterosa even higher. Do you think there might be enough snow in Madonna at Easter ? Kind regards,

The col is a snow pocket and is the summer road to italy. It doesnt tend to get dug out until late May to june.
We never thought to go to La thuile from Courmayuer because Chamonix was too much of a calling. I think you can go a long way off the cresta from Courmayuer but not all the way to La Thuile, iirc, ..anyway we never looked seriously at those options.
If you look at snow level, Espace San bernardo consistently has amongst the highest in the region.
La Ros has chalet capacity, La thuile might be more hotels. Not sure about ths Operators.
For me, id consider leaving booking to see what the snow is doing. These last few years, snow has stuck around late, in a few places.
If you want height, Val T, if you must...the skiing saves it.

Thank you again Sonofapreacher :)
We will watch the snow closely.
My initial choice was Chamonix until I found out that the high lift was closed .
La Ros sounds good. For now it is our preferred choice, with Monterosa as an option.
Would prefer to avoid Val T. Visited from Courchevel some time ago. But snow holds there well of course. Montgenevre was also recommended to us in the past, but La looks better :) I wish everyone great Easter skiing !
