Looks like you'll probably be OK pretty much anywhere this year. We've just had 70cm of snow in the Pyrenees (falling to about 600m altitude 20th March) and it's still coming down. More snow forecast for next week too. Not sure if the Alps are getting it too, but conditions here in Bareges-La Mongie should be good for the next couple of weeks. The Pyrenees are great for families and a bargain alternative to the Alps. Our catered chalet prices start at £315 per person for an en-suite family room, and lift passes over Easter are only 102 euros for six days.

Yep, snow is really good in the Alps too. Lots of fresh snow everywhere and frezzing temperatures.
Last week was the hottest of the season and it seems that this week is the coldest.... more like january skiing.

Which is great. I told you at the beginning of the season the french say "Noel au balcon, Paques aux tisons" which means warm xmas, cold easter and it seems to be true !!

The skiing season is note finished !

Enjoy !

I would seriously suggest the Milky way area at present is as good as anywhere - lots of fresh snow in Sauze, Sestriere and Montgenevre was particularly good.

Ser Chevallier was also apparantly very good, as was Les Deux Alpes, so you cant really go wrong down the western side.

Mayrhofen is also usually spot on irrespective of conditions, but for safety, try Val Thorens, if you dont mind a long and tricky transfer.

Hi

Lots of snow in Thyon 2000 part of the Verbier 4 valleys system, we skied 10th April last year no problem, I expect the same for this year. Good snow all season here.

My suggestion for April would have to be Flaine. It is a bowl resort that has year after year great snow conditions late in the season. I was there two years ago in April and had a great mix of sun and fresh dumps. I spoke with some British folks who have bought chalets there and they were saying year after year it has a great snow record for the first two weeks of April, and that's their favourite time to visit. It's not the prettiest resort but the runs are superb for beginners and intermediates, and its usually great value.

Val Thorens is higher priced and is a higher altitude, but I have heard the ski area is fairly stark. The adjoining Les Menuires is also probably a good late season bet and slightly cheaper.

As you go later in the season it's probably important to choose a north facing resort so the sun does not have such a strong impact. Again Flaine offers that.

Just had a great week last week in Les Saisies which had some very good deals for the second half of March and is a snow magnet, but it probably isn't a great bet for experienced skiers end of season.

Chamonix should be good. Currently there is about 2m depth at 2000m (where the ski areas start) and is almost 4m deep on the higher slopes. Look here for more details http://www.chamonix.com/page.php?page=89&r=snow_report&ling=en

We've also seen some fresh snow on the slpoes in the last few days, and there is more forcast for the coming weekend. 15-25cm of fresh snow is forecast for Friday. Nice!!
