The black is pretty easy as they go - no hidden horrors. Not for first week skiers however we took my future son-in-law down it on his second week on the snow and he was elated.
The snow was late season pudding, a few steepish bits but relatively wide and would probably be labelled a red in some resorts.

thanks for that AndyM.
Yeah I remember doing a couple of black runs there when I was there many years ago and thinking they were more like dark reds compared to France.
I suppose a couple of us who are more confident will take a trial run on them before we let the kids loose.
Their Ski Instructor should let us know if they are able for it I imagine.
There is a bus service Sestrière to Oulx that takes about 45 min, then change buses at Oulx to head up to Sauze. All takes just over an hour and costs about €5
I believe a taxi is about €70
As with everything, I guess it will be very much dependent on the conditions.

There are local buses from San Sicario and Sestriere to Oulx and on to Sauze.

I assume this will be a big problem for those who can't ski the black, effectively meaning that there is no way back to Sauze from Sansicario either as the long drag lift out of Sansicario effectively terminates at the same place as the cabin from Sestriere?
The buses may be busy with those who get caught out.

Yep that's right. There's a reasonable amount of skiing for a beginner in Sauze, I reckon an early intermediate would be ok going easy. It looks nice and wide

Spoke this morning at the airport to a guy who spent the week skiing in Sauze he thought there would only be the black runs back for the rest of the season. Massive snowfall across the whole area yesterday.
