Whistler's now reporting that they've had 14inches/36cm in the past 48 hours (v. close to what we were forecasting a week ago) and their near-term forecast has pretty much aligned with ours now - predicting up to another 21inches/60cm over the next 5 days.

GFS doesn't always get it right, but it does happen... 8)

All I know if that if a forecast is based on ONE model only, it can't be considered reliable or reasonably accurate. This website has been consistently predicting FEET of snow at Whistler, above about 4K something elevation. Their snow-stake is at elevation 5,410ft and has measured a whopping 6 inches over the past 48 hours - the duration of this storm. And zero snow measured today, even though this website continues to show 12-15 inches predicted above about 4,163 ft elevation. I understand that more snow fell at the higher elevations, but if 6 inches fell at 5,400 ft, then no way 3 feet fell at 6,400 ft, especially when I noted the temp difference between the two spots was only 1-2*F.

I call that more than a blown forecast.

Both Whistler.com and the whistler-blackcomb websites both more accurately predicted the snowfall totals from this storm.

When you predict about 3-4 feet of snow and 6 inches comes of it, I think its time to re-evaluate how your forecasts are made and what they are based on. This is now the second time this season, and within 2 weeks, that the forecast on this website was completely overblown. Otherwise, it makes no sense for me to take these forecasts seriously and will look elsewhere for more reasonable forecasts.
