The skiing in Val d'Isere and Tignes is excellent. Nearly all of the pistes are open and there is very good off piste coverage in most places, although most of it is now tracked out.

The conditions are much better than they were this time last year. However, they are both high resorts (which is one of the reasons we either come here or Zermatt each Christmas). It's possible to ski above 2000m all day long. It was above freezing at village level and no lower than -4 at 3000m. Therefore it means it must be very warm in the lower resorts. Will upload a couple of pics later. We head home tomorrow :(

This was today in Sestriere/Sauze d'Oulx/San Sicario.
Plenty of snow, excellent skiing on and off the piste, they are opening more and more runs. it looked like a link to Claviere will be open tomorrow.

Plenty of time for more snow until end of January, no need to worry...And even if it's not the deepest I'm sure you'll still have a fabulous time in the mountains.

Yes you are all right.... I totally get 3 weeks is a long time for it all to change. I'm also hoping the long range people are looking at will ring true. I guess it's only like the last 2 yrs. I remember it being like this when we went to ADH Feb 2015 and it snowed so hard they were dumping it off the mountain. Here is to hope! I've never skied la plagne before so I'm unsure how it holds up in situations like these but the guys are brilliant at snow making so all isn't lost....

This is a ridiculous thread. The best forecasters can't predict anything more than a few days in the mountains so worrying about a few weeks time is just nonsense.
When in doubt?....Flat out.

Ha why is it nonesense? It hasn't snowed for over a month and unless anything changes soon it's not likely to snow anytime soon. So to say it's nonesense is rubbish isn't
It... if you don't like the thread then don't read it or comment simple

Fair enough...I'm just trying to say that it's far to early to worry.
Happy Christmas and I've no doubt you will have plenty of snow.
