J2Ski Holiday 11th January 2015 Sauze d'Oulx

Not sauze ;)






As I have been twice in two years ;)

Would love to join the gang but too close to our planned New Year trip with family. Eventually our children will leave home and we'll have more flexibility....

For those who have not been to Sauze, I can recommend the ski area highly, its really good, with a day trip to Montgenevre recommended as well as one to Serre Che. Oh no, in fact dont go to Serre Che as you might all like it that much that you decide to go back and its my best kept secret ;-)

Sauze has some great lively bars: Paddy's is a bit of a tip but a lively place and easy to find and meet in, and Ghost Bar was always great atmosphere. Theres some really nice old places down past the square in the old town around the Hotel Faure as well, much more rustic and traditional.
Skiing in Sestriere is usually colder and better conditions, Sauze slopes nice and quiet. Never skied Sansicario as it was always closed due to lack of snow.

Hi Snapzzz,
The reason we can't ask anyone else to join our direct booking and share in our group discount with the hotel is because the Sauze haven't got any rooms left to 'sell'!
I was very taken aback by this myself. It's got 31 rooms and it's 9 months before the holiday. So I was assuming that we'd be able to add more people from J2Ski to our booking, as we have done in previous years.

However, as soon as we'd decided we wanted to stay in the Sauze, and I'd sent an e-mail to the hotel letting them know this, they replied saying we had to book immediately as they had lots of other people wanting 'our' rooms. I asked if we could have more rooms and they said 'no' they were pretty much sold out. I checked with Crystal, and as I said, they still had 8 rooms available in the Sauze. So we decided to book 12 rooms for the people who were ready with their deposits and committed to the holiday.

We booked the hotel last night.

Anyone that wants to come with us is very welcome, as I said before :)

I will have a look to see if the Sauze is available from any other TO etc.

And as for the quality of the hotel - we know it's not a 4 star hotel but as Old Andy said, the reviews are very good and it's well situated. And it's not too expensive. As I said before, if anyone wants to ski/board with us, but wants to stay in a different hotel for whatever reason, there are plenty of other hotels in Sauze d'Oulx :)

The last 2 J2Ski group holidays have been great, and we all got on really well :)
I am quite confident that the next one will be just as good :)

If anyone would like to join us, would they please post up on here, or message me, and I will help them to find room buddies (if they haven't got one already) and other queries like I usually do.

Mid Jan should be better conditions for snow but it will be b****y cold and they have added quite a few more snow cannons to the lower bits. Never stayed at the Sauze though but the apres is lively all over!! Maybe I can join you in 2015 with a bit of luck!!

You're very welcome to come and ski with us in Sauze d'Oulx. Let's hope we can find a way of fitting you in the Sauze hotel with us :)
