Baldy, I do not insist she wears one she has to wear one by local law and when she is over 14/16/18 where ever we go the choice will be hers, but as she has never known any difference I would think she will continue to wear one but the choice will be hers ..... Come on baldy liven up :D

Your head and your choice.
Will a helmet prevent all head trauma - of course not.
Will it reduce the severity of the trauma - in the main yes.
Whilst I know the risk of a fatal or disabling head injury when skiing recreationally is small I choose to wear one as I'm convinced it reduces the risk of me being left disabled and a burden on my family.
I look on it as a hat with a crust, the only material difference being that I can't fold my helmet up and put it in my pocket when I go indoors.
Mind you I don't like wearing a hat but the lack of hair means I have to wear something to stop my head freezing these days.

I've always worn a lid and I always will. It's not all about how good a skier you are yourself - It's also about those behind you who might have lost control, hurtling toward you and crack you in the back of the head.

I've started wearing a helmet when I started skiing off-piste a few years back. I got used to it very quickly, but I ski very often so it wasn't difficult. If I was to have a piste-only day I probably wouldn't bother.

I don't think it is law in France that kids have to wear a helmet.
The ski school might insist as part of their policy, but a child can legally remove it once their lesson is over.

Yes. Me. I like to be aware of my surroundings and from personal experience people wearing helmets generally dont appear to be.
(And as for self obsessed go proers.... Sheesh! But thats another debate.)
